![]() However, there are a few things that you should hold off on when you are recovering from oral surgery. One of those things is exercise. Immediately Following Oral SurgeryFor at least the first 2 or 3 days after you have oral surgery, you should refrain from any sort of exercise. For one thing, you don't want to raise your blood pressure, as you have some sutures and incisions in your mouth that are healing. For another, even if you feel really well, remember that your body is recovering from a major event. Avoiding exercise will help ensure that you don't overdo anything or cause any other problems. Beginning a Few Days After SurgeryAfter the first couple of days, you are probably going to be fine if you want to start engaging in some light exercise again. Make sure to keep things easy at first, and slowly ease back into your routine. We often recommend nothing more strenuous than a leisurely walk for at least 4 or 5 days. After that, you can slowly begin to increase the intensity of your exercise sessions. Remember to listen to your body, and if you feel like you are getting lightheaded or dizzy you should immediately stop. The last thing you want to do is pass out and possibly injure yourself. Getting back into the swing of things after oral surgery does take some time. But don't get impatient, and slowly return to your normal routine. Your body will heal up soon enough, and then you will be back to your normal everyday activities. |
