Cone Beam: 3D Imaging Technology
A cone beam x-ray is a device that produces a 3D x-ray. The panoramic view allows us to view the health of your teeth more accurately and with more detail all the way around a tooth, not just from the side. There are also several other advantages of the cone beam x-ray technology compared to traditional x-rays:
||Higher quality images
||Images with less distortion
||Cross sectional imaging
||Less radiation than a full mouth x-ray set
||Less time and more patient comfort
||Greater accuracy for restorative procedures
The in depth look at the teeth, mouth and jaw that the cone beam provides helps us detect early signs of dental issues. Early detection is a key to long term dental health and fewer lifetime dental visits.
Trios 3Shape Scanner
Because the field of dentistry is evolving and changing with the introduction of new technology, staying one step ahead of these new diagnostic and treatment tools is essential to help provide our patients with the best quality of care. Finding a balance between providing state-of-the-art equipment and not jumping on new bandwagons allows us here at DFW Oral Surgeons the opportunity to better treat our patients without resorting to gimmicks. That's why we're pleased to offer the Trios 3Shape scanner to you as a fantastic diagnostic tool to help us better serve you as your dental care providers.
What is the Trios 3Shape Scanner?
Our patients trust us to deliver them the highest quality of care using only the best technology, which is why we use the Trios 3Shape scanner at our office. This device allows us to take immediate digital scans of your mouth, giving us the chance to share with you new insights about your oral health. So often it seems that going to see a dentist results in you laying in our exam chair with your mouth wide open as we peer into your mouth and say “hmm” occasionally. With our Trios 3Shape scanner, we are now able to include you in your dental care, empowering you with the knowledge that you were not able to have before.
Our Trios 3Shape scanner reduces the amount of time you need to spend in our chair with your mouth open. We are also able to quickly see the results of your impression and share them with you, calling up an impressive 3D image of the inside of your mouth on a computer screen. You will be able to see a model of your mouth! The Trios 3Shape scanner is also extremely precise and accurate, reducing the risk of any errors. We will be able to quickly identify and diagnose any trouble areas when we use this device. Furthermore, instead of taking sticky, goopy conventional impressions and sending them out to the lab to make a mold of your teeth, we can see them instantly, reducing any delays in your treatment.
We advise the application Trios 3Shape scanner for a wide variety of purposes. Not only can we assess your mouth, but we can also come up with a customized treatment plan for you much faster. We can use the Trios 3Shape to make impressions for veneers, crowns, bridges, and dental implants. We can also see areas that need further attention from us when we view the 3D model of your mouth with you. Plus, we can use the same 3D image to show you the course of your treatment and what possible outcomes you can expect. Moreover, unlike conventional casts using rubbery materials, we can save all of your information in your digital file and call it up with the push of a button.
Taking care of your teeth includes not only brushing and flossing daily but also ensuring that you have access to cutting-edge technology to experience the best standard in dental care. Carestream (CT Scanner)
X-rays have been around since 1895, providing us with nearly 125 years of vital imaging of the health inside of a patient’s mouth. However, with advances in technology comes more intensive and accurate imaging, which is why we here at DFW Oral Surgeons are proud to offer our patients the most advanced computed tomography (CT) scanning available. Using Carestream CT Scanning, we can provide you with superior care and clear, accurate digital imaging during your appointment with us.
What is a Carestream CT Scanner?
Carestream CT scanning is incredibly safe and precise, delivering a high-resolution 3D image of your mouth while administering a very small dose of radiation. The Carestream CT Scanner uses even less radiation than conventional CT scanning, making it the preferred choice for us and our patients. (We do need to note here that we do not advise CT scanning for our pregnant patients, as while the radiation is quite low, the risk of harm to your fetus is still possible.) We use a cone-shaped X-ray device to circle your face to capture a series of images (called views). These images come together to create a three-dimensional model of the inside of your mouth.
The application of CT scanning is critical to allow us to diagnose better and treat any conditions that you may have occurring inside your mouth, such as active infections, bone or jaw loss, impacted teeth, detecting oral tumors, or severe tooth decay. We may also advise a CT scan to help us determine how to carefully place a dental implant or to devise a course of action for a root canal. We can also use a Carestream CT Scanner to help treat snoring caused by sleep apnea.
Before your CT scan, we will advise that you wear comfortable clothing and remove any metal from your people, such as jewelry, watches, hair pins, or your eyeglasses. The Carestream CT Scanner will then circle your head in a 360-degree motion, and during that time, it will capture up to 600 two-dimensional views to create a comprehensive 3D image of your teeth, gums, soft tissue, and throat. All of this happens in less than a minute, averaging around 40 seconds per scan and capture.
With this information, we can give you a better quality of care versus conventional X-ray imagery. Once we have the results of your CT scan, we will then use these images to diagnose you better and treat you. The Carestream CT Scanner is extremely exact and entirely painless, making it a great option for our patients. With it, we’re able to capture images of your entire mouth at the same time instead of just one feature or a different one.
If you have been told that you require a CT scan of the interior of your mouth, then it’s understandable that you have questions about this technology and the risks and benefits of it to you. To learn more about Carestream CT Scanning or to schedule an appointment at our office, please give us here at DFW Oral Surgeons at (972) 539-1491 today.
